The Secret of Renewable Success on the Severn

The Patent 2006

At the very time that the Severn Lake Founder deposited the two planning applications in a ‘change of use’ (Severn River to Severn Lake 01/03/2006) across the Atlantic in California one of the greatest minds in Hydro and Turbine Technology was depositing a patent application (later approved) at the Patent Office in Cardiff for a fixed one-direction turbine and associate sluice gates to capture the power of the rising tide in the Severn on ebb and flow  This single idea makes the vast scheme wholly viable, and some.   The business case which is commercial in confidence is a win for the investors and a win for the UK.  It should not be forgotten that a roll-out of this type of Tidal technology would follow with other sites utilised in the UK.
